When I write this, Yoran and I are on the plane back to Belgium. Yesterday we really bought our house during an unprecedented spectacle of a flamboyant and chaotic notary in Santa Comba Dão, a town not far from Tábua, where we now own a house on a mountain with a mindblowing view and an amazing swimming pool .

Even though we are only at the end of January, the weather in Tábua was wonderful. The mornings and evenings are chilly, but from the afternoon onwards you can walk without a jacket, enjoy a drink on a terrace,… an opportunity that we obviously did not miss. We have already found some nice lunch addresses in Tábua, and a few good pastellerías, which are coffee bars with usually an extensive selection of pastries. More about that soon! In addition to the well-known pastel de nata, we have a few new favorite desserts. It will be a miracle if we don’t gain any weight in the coming years after all those Portuguese delicacies!

Because the house was not yet ours when we arrived in Portugal three days ago, and also because we still had to work in the mornings, we stayed in a hotel: the Luna Hotel in the center of Tábua. That turned out to be quite a nice and beautiful hotel, especially for a price of around €80 per night for room with breakfast. As everywhere in Portugal, the staff was very nice and ready to help us with any question. We could work undisturbed in the lobby, had a strong WiFi connection everywhere, the room was beautiful, the beds were wonderful and the breakfast was also decent. It was very quiet there, but that seems normal to me, at the end of January.
